AONN+ and Manta Cares Bring AI Cancer Tool to 9,000 Navigators
The partnership equips oncology nurse and patient navigators with AI resources specifically designed for cancer care amid rising patient use of general-purpose AI.
Two healthcare organizations have joined forces to bring purpose-built artificial intelligence resources to the oncology navigation community, as cancer patients increasingly rely on general-purpose AI tools for medical information that may not be tailored to their needs.
The Academy of Oncology Nurse and Patient Navigators (AONN+) and Manta Cares announced a collaboration that will deliver training, education, and specialized AI resources to more than 9,000 oncology nurse and patient navigators across the United States. The partnership targets a growing gap between what patients seek from AI platforms and what those platforms are equipped to safely provide in a cancer care context.

Oncology navigators serve as critical guides for patients moving through complex cancer diagnoses and treatment systems. By equipping this workforce with tools and training designed specifically for cancer patients, the partnership aims to ensure that AI-assisted information remains clinically appropriate and contextually accurate rather than drawn from broad, general-purpose models not calibrated for oncology.
The arrangement reflects a broader shift in healthcare toward integrating AI at the point of patient support, while acknowledging the risks of patients self-navigating AI systems without clinical guardrails. Providing navigators with vetted, oncology-specific AI resources positions them to better guide patients who may otherwise rely on unvetted digital sources.
